No I haven`t......

I know some of you may have thought I had fallen off the edge of the world but not to worry I have not.......not yet that is!!!!!!!!

Let`s see what to start with........August as been a very busy month!!! A friend of mine re-married her first husband in June and they had a wedding dance the first of September. So I was asked if I could make her a tiara to wear for the dance, which I did!!

Here are some pictures of the tiara and the bride with the tiara and veil added!!
It is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth thread with purple beads added. The pattern is from the 30th Anniversary Book of Patterns by the Ring of Tatters. The designer is Pat Polley! I was also asked to help make the decorations and wreath for the event.

I have also been busy test tatting patterns for this years tatting weekend in Cambridge Ontario for the Fringe Tatters. Along with that, Vicki (Victats) asked me to do some testing for her too. This pendant was inspired by some of the new things I did for her!!

It is tatted in Lizbeth size 20 and was free style. So are these doodads I added tatting to as part of Diane`s Doodad Dare!! I really enjoyed trying new things out with interest pieces and beads!!

In other news I was able to get a part time job at a local grocery store. It is only 8 hours a week but something is better than nothing!!!
I also have found that the start of the school year was difficult for me. My son has entered his last year of high school. It reminded me of his first day.....can any one tell me where the time has gone!?!?

I will have more later. Hope all is well in your part of Tat Land!
Tat to you later, Kelly.

Happy Canada Day!!!!

 Hello to everyone in Tat-Land

I have been busy making these jewelry sets to sell this week!! I`m only showing this one as it is the only one I kept for myself!! It is done in another of Karey`s beautiful HDT in size 20. In total I did 15 sets. The others were done in a number of lovely Lizbeth threads!!

The pattern is Krystledawne`s ``Spanish Dancer`` that I helped test tat a while ago!!

This is what is in the middles are these pieces!! The larger ring is about 1/2`` across and the smaller is only 1/4`` across. I just needed to do less repeats for the earrings.

I`m hoping they sell well as I am putting the money away for this weekend. Our annual ``Water Front Festival`` is this weekend; with art tents, craft tent, a market place and mid way rides. I usually can pick up some birthday gift while I am there and sometimes something for me!!!

Must run now.....housework is a-waiting!!

Tat to you soon

The good with the bad!!!!

 Hello All

I hope everyone is having a better day then me!!!!
But first some good stuff!!

Here is Janes`wonderful new pattern. She challenged me to try him out seeing that I am needle tatting and sometimes things don`t always work out. But this guy did!!! He measures about 3`` long and was tatted in Altin Basak threads.

And it is always good when you get mail that has threads in it!!! Above is some threads Diane that Lace loven Liberian sent to me to try out!! I don`t know..... they are really fine. Thanks Diane!!!

Also in yesterdays mail my order from Marilee Rockley arrived!!! I really  love her HDT. I ordered Garden Afternoon in both size 30 and 40.

Now for the bad!!! You know that the day is not going to go well when in the wee hours of the morning you get up and trip over the dog and land on your knee. And of course this knee is on the same leg that your ankle was operated on 7 months ago!!!!

Good news that I did not re-injure the ankle. The knee took the full landing!!! Boy it hurts!!
Then while I was about to e-mail a resume in for a new job the hydro goes out just as I pushed send!!!

I have to go and do some errands but I promise I will be very careful driving out there today!!

I`m in love.....

 Good Morning Friends

Yes!!! It is true.....I`m in love!!!
With Marilee Rockleys Small Maple Leaf pattern. I purchased it from her on line store and I can tell already that my whole day will be spent tatting these little guys up!!

The larger one is done is Karey`s HDT in size 20 and the smaller one is done in Altin Basak (50) thread with white seed beads. I`m going to be making earrings out of the smaller ones. They measure 3/4 `` wide and 1 1/2 long. I`m going to be ready for Canada Day this year!!! (July 1st)

Next is Janes tatted Red Eye Tree frog. I tatted him in size 20 Lizbeth thread. Being a needle tatter I have to do some things differently but he came out pretty cute.

That all is all for now. I will have to put the tatting down but for only a little while today, so I can apply for a new job listing I found. Wish me luck!!

What I have been up to!!!!

 Hello All

This is my first entry with the new blogger layout. So I am not counting on this being easy.

First I have the Italian doily I have been working on. I could not believe I had to have Karey send me more of her beautiful HDT. I have gone through 2 1/2 skeins of ``Sunset on .Seneca lake`` in size 20. But at last it is done!!! It measures 16`` cross! This is the largest doily I have done. And I understand that she does not have any more of this colour in stock. Boy was I lucky to get enough to finish this piece.

And while I was waiting for the extra thread to arrive..... I did the same pattern but this time in a lovely yellow from DMC Cebelia size 30. This doily turned out to be about 14`` wide. I am thinking of putting it away for my mom for her next birthday!!

We have been busy with the gardens and yard work lately. And I am still looking for work but there is not much out there.

Well I must go. I have to clean up my craft room and then decided what my next project will be.

Take care and I`ll tat you to later,
Kelly

It`s good to be busy.....

Hello All

Yes it is good to be busy!! And I really need to keep busy the next few days!!! Why? Well my son is on a school trip to New York city and this is the longest he has been away from me for all of his whole 17 years. And mommie is not doing to well!! Now don`t tell me not to worry, I know he will be OK but I just cann`t help myself. I will be better on Sunday night when he is home.

So to say the least I have been tatting, cleaning my house and doing some running around today!!

One of my stops today was to a house of someone I cleaned for about a month ago. He is selling his house and offered all of his baskets to me to use in the raffle the Fringe does in September. I really love using baskets around the house so not all of these will make to Cambridge!!!

In the tatting department I did Nancy Tracy`s owl pattern from her newsletter of October 2011!! They are made in size 20 Lizbeth.

Next we have a bookmark for my Aunt Wendy who will be retiring later this April. The pattern is one of my favorites. It is by LaRae Mikulecky and made in size 20 HDT by LadyShuttleMaker.

Now this last project has been a real peach to work on. I have been asked to teach this year at the Fringe tatting weekend in September. And being a needle tatter I wanted to come up with something different to teach. This motif is simple rings and chains but has 4 different ways to add beads to it. The designing was fun. The writing of the patten was another story.

My thanks go to both TotusMel of Needle Tatting and Other Nonsense and Rachel of Piney Woods Tatter (needle tatters) for testing my pattern and finding my typos.

Well I must be going. I am planning to wash some windows today and if I have time maybe I will re shingle the house!! (Just kidding!!!)
Have a great weekend!!

Must stop in more often!!!

Hello my friends in Tat Land

Where must I stop in more often? you ask. Well today I was out doing some Easter dinner shopping and had to go to two different stores to look for a smaller turkey and right across the road was a thrift store I had not been into since last summer. So I started in the craft part and found these......

The books were priced the same as they were in the 1940`s and 1950`s. Only .10¢ each and the two doilies were .50¢ for the pair!!!

When ever I go into thrift stores I always look for hankies. They are getting harder and harder to find.

But lucky for me at the cash they had a little basket with hankie in it. I picked up 6 and as you can see 3 of them have tatting on them!!! Just beautiful!! Each hankie cost .75¢ each.

But this was the best purchase and find!!! This lovely round doily in very fine thread. I was both happy and sad to get this piece. Happy because I found it but sad because it only cost me .50¢. All that hard work!!! My treasures cost me a total of $5.70. Not to bad.

Well, must be off. House work waits for no one but me!!

Tatfully Yours

The prefect International Tat Day (almost!!!)

Why is it ``The prefect International Tat Day (almost)``? Well as you can see I have my hot chocolate ready and my tatting but the problem is we are having some rain today. I know`` why is this a problem?`` you say.....well it means that hubby is not on the golf course but home doing some ``projects`` around the house!!! He is great at starting them but leaves the clean up for me to do!! All I want to do is sit in my cozy chair and tat the day away!!

Well I guess things are not all that bad!!! (what you cann`t see that I added some Bailey`s Irish Cream to my hot chocolate!! (hee hee don`t tell!!!!)
The tatting I am working on is a little bit of a challenge for me!! Not the tatting it`s self because it is only rings and chains. The challenge is that the pattern is written in Italian and for shuttle. It is from a il lavoro chiacchierino magazine and I am really enjoying it. The thread is a HDT from Karey in size 20 but I have a problem there too. I am running out!!! Some girlfriends with the Fringe are going to Karey`s tatting weekend this month and I hoping they can find more for me!! The doily has 9 rows to it and I have finished 6 of them and it already measures over 8``.

Well I should go before my hot chocolate gets cold!! I hope you are having a great International Tat Day where you are!!!

Tat to you later,
Kelly

What I have been up to!!

Hello to all in Tat Land!!!

I have been busy tatting this week after my wonderful weekend away from home!! We did a lot of shopping and talking! It is always good to get away from time to time!!

First I have something that just arrived in the mail on Wednesday. My exchange item for the ``Knotty Tatters`` the Fringe Tatters Group is doing!! This first exchange was called Hankie Pankie. I`m now sure if you can see the post mark but it came all the way from Australia!! I love doing these exchanges!!

I am for some reason in jewelry making mode!! I loved making this pendant and earring set from Marilee Rockley book ``Up and Tat Em``. I used size 30 threads. The multicolored thread is from Marilee herself from the gift giveaway in won!!

These earrings are a Nancy Tracy pattern done in the same size 30 black thread. I had to change up the pattern to get it to work for a needle tatted but I think they came out pretty good.

Lastly, I did this bracelet for my sister in laws birthday. It is a Kaye Judt pattern she taught a few years ago! I hope my sister in law likes it.

Well must go!! Beagle wants to go for her morning walk and I am starting work on a new doily pattern today. But more on that later.

If Spring is coming why am I in a snowball?

Hello Everyone

I will explain my title for this blog!!! With spring coming and my hubby really hating the drywall job that was done on our kitchen ceiling; we decided to wall paper the ceiling so it looks like we have tin up there. So, we had to go looking for the trays to put it up with......(this is where the snowball started) and while looking in the laundry room, hubby starts looking in the cabinets and says ``do we really need all this STUFF!!!``!! Well hours later and two very full garbage bags later the whole laundry room is now clean!

Now, we will be needing help putting up the wall paper so that turned into me cleaning to tops of the kitchen cabinets and fridge!! I also sprayed down the oven last night getting it ready for a good cleaning and of course that will lead to the kitchen floors needing a good hands and knees cleaning!! ( This snowball is getting out of control!!!)

On a sunny note my giveaway prize from Marilee the Yarnplayer arrived today!!

And I was able to pick up a copy of Bead and Button where Marilee is shown with her beautiful tatting!!

Well I`d better get going!! The floors will not clean themselves!! I am hoping the snowball melts this weekend with the nice warm weather we are going to be getting!!

Take care!!!

Coming out of the dumps!!!

Morning All!!!

Some of you know or may have noticed I have not been blogging much lately. For someone who is not working and at home much of the time I should have loads of tatting done to share with you. But I don`t. Just been in the dumps lately!
But things are starting to look up!

Hubby`s side of the family is on the grow. First his niece had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago and a nephew`s girlfriend is do in 3 months.

So I have picked up my crochet hooks and knitting needles and started making some gifts for the new arrivals.

Next, I was able to buy this book from ebay the other week and have tatted a doily from it. I used some hand dyed thread in size 20 that I picked up from Karey Solomon called ``Willows by the water``.

I am really enjoying working with HDT`s. My hubby has let me buy my own birthday gifts this year, so placed an order with Lady Shuttle Maker for some of her threads and a hook pin. The only thing is, it will arrive well before my birthday at the end of March. I wonder if hubby will let me open my gifts early? But if I get to the mail first.....what he doesn`t know won`t hurt him!!! ;))))

And much to my surprise I also won some more HDT`s from a wonderful giveaway that Yarnplayer was doing. Not just threads are coming but a beautiful hand made necklace pendent and bracelet. Thank you Marilee!!!

So with a good report from the surgeon on my recovery and being busy looking for a new job; things are starting to look up!
The sun is shining and I feel I need a big cup of tea. I will go now.

Blog to you later.

Tribute to Gina

I spent much of my day, as many of you in Tat Land did, tatting and remembering our good friend Gina.

I am grateful that I had the chance to meet Gina a couple of years back and we even took a class together. But I think what I will remember and miss the most will be her laugh, her smile and the warmth she shared with everyone.

We will miss you Gina!!

Passing of a dear friend...

I am very sad to hear about the passing of a wonderful person and friend Gina Brummet the Tatting Goddess.

I was lucky to have had the chance to meet Gina a couple of years ago when she came up to Canada to teacher with the Fringe Tatters group. She even came up to my room with other tatters for a pizza party.
I was looking forward to seeing her later this year as she was planning to come up again to teach for the group.

You will be sadly missed!! I will have a spearmint tea for the both of us tonight!!
Rest in peace.

What would you been doing?

Hello All

What would you be doing on a wintery day like this?

I was a good girl and got all my running around jobs done before this wintery weather started today! I had to drive into town and take care of my girlfriends and my parents cats; as they are all away on a vacation.

I`m starting to think that these two lazy fur balls may have the right idea. (It is not often that the dog shares her bed with the cat!) But before I could make my plans for the rest of the day, I had some cooking to do. So I got the slow cooker out and put on a big batch a beans to cook for the day.

I could pick up and work on the table runner. It is coming along nicely and is a great project to start and stop if you like. Or maybe I`ll work on some hearts or a bookmark or two!?!

I have finished my exchange piece for the Fringe! The theme for this year is ``Knotty Tatters`` and for the first exchange of the year we called it ``Hanky Panky``!!! I am mailing mine to the UK but do not know where I`m receiving one from. That`s the funny of it all.

Well I better stir the beans and get tatting!! The ankle is coming along well and I have an appointment on Monday with the doctor!
Keep warm!!

Hello and Happy New Year

Good morning to all in Tat Land!!!

I know it has been a while between blogs but I am finding that the more time I have on my hands; the less I get done!!! Things will be getting better now that hubby and son are now gone all day!!
I made through the holiday season with only a few set backs. Once I was moving well with the walker boot I thought I could do anything and everything. But I learned quickly that if I baked 11 dozen cookies in a day, on a ceramic floor, that I will be in bed for most for the next day!!! I also had to learn that if it didn`t get done in time for Christmas it wasn`t going to get done!! That was the hardest thing for me to learn!!

We had a nice quick holiday over all!!

Here is a picture of what I am wearing on my ankle around the house. It starts out lose and comfortable in the morning but by dinner time I am ready to ripe it off.

When I go outside (if it is snowy or icy) I wear the walker boot. But luckly the winter weather has not been too bad here is southern Ontario. Which has been great for me and getting around.

I have been doing some tatting! The little motif in this piece is from ``Tatting Patterns and Designs`` by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson. I decided to join them and see what I could come up with!! I`m using size 30 thread but I`m not sure who made it.

And lastly here is a picture of my coffee table in the living room. It is starting to get filled up with my tatting, which is not a bad thing.

And yes I am as surprised as you are!!! I have not yet killed my Christmas flower!!! Amazing isn`t it!!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and get a lot of tatting done this New Year.

Tatfully Yours Kelly
